Price TWA, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of heating and ventilation equipment, has installed an innovative radiant heating panel solution for the Salvation Army meeting hall in Gloucester.
The project was undertaken to replace the original under-floor heating system which had been installed over 50 years ago. Sited beneath a parquet floor covering, this system had become less and less efficient over time, with the circuits gradually breaking and failing to the point where it had become almost totally ineffective.
With a tight budget and a requirement for a system that would be both effective and elegant, the Salvation Army engaged contractor KS Barry Plumbing and Heating Ltd to install a new heating system for the worship hall. Working with KS Barry, design engineer Kevin O’Donnell from consultancy The Williams Partnership, considered a wide number of systems. It was determined that Price TWA’s radiant heating system would provide the most appropriate solution – delivering an attractive combination of ease of use with low cost of ownership.
Given the room height and space that required heating, a series of radiant heating panels have been positioned just below cill height, with flat panels sited on the stage and back walls and angled panels installed on the side walls, providing a direct and highly effective source of heating for the whole congregation.
Radiant technology was the perfect solution for this application, providing a silent, draft-free and thermally stable environment. Ideal for refurbishment programmes, radiant panels provide very straightforward installation, delivering a clean, quiet environment, which is highly secure and almost maintenance free.
Price TWA radiant heating panels are a proven solution, with an extruded aluminium radiant heating strip providing exceptionally high heat transfer. Although wall mounted in this case, panels are also suitable for ceiling mounting and are supplied with a wide range of accessories, providing both design flexibility and a clean, modern appearance.
The staff at the Salvation Army building in Gloucester were delighted with the result as Kevin O’Donnell explained: “As the worship hall was the tallest part of whole building, and the most commonly used room, the heating system had to have elegant looks as well as delivering an efficient, low maintenance and low cost solution.
“Price TWA’s radiant panel system offered the best cost option both from a capital and a cost of ownership point of view”.
