VAV & CAV Systems
CAV Systems
CAV systems deliver a constant rate of air into a specified area, with the temperature of the supply air being varied to meet the requirements of that area. These systems tend to be relatively simple, low-cost and reliable, often with just a simple on/off control. CAV systems provide the perfect heating and ventilation solution for smaller office buildings, servicing a single thermal area, although more complex systems for larger areas or multiple zones may also be designed.
VAV Systems
VAV systems vary the amount of air supplied to a given area, while maintaining the air at a constant temperature – offering a very energy-efficient system with low fan and reheat energy consumption.
The simplest VAV systems use just a single air supply duct, varying the flow of air to compensate for rising or falling temperatures in the controlled area.
Our range includes both rectangular and circular CAV and VAV units. Both types are available with attenuators – which may either be factory-built into the unit, or supplied separately, as required and may be calibrated at our factory, or on site.
Our range of Constant and Variable Air Volume units includes both rectangular and circular options. Both types may be supplied with attenuators, and these may either be factory-built into the unit or supplied separately, as required. They may also be calibrated at our factory, or on site.
Constant Air Volume Units – Mechanical
The two most common types of CAV system are the terminal reheat and mixed-air systems. The terminal reheat system cools the air in the unit down to the lowest required temperature for the designated area, supplying a comfortable air temperature. The mixed air system has two air streams – typically one for the coldest and one for the hottest needed air temperature in the zone. The two air streams are then merged to meet the temperature requirements.
Variable Volume Units
Round
Rectangular (with or without induction)
Accessories
Rectangular attenuator
Heating Coils – for heating the mixed secondary and primary air in a VAV system
Measurement Instrument
If required, we are able to design and supply special CAV and VAV units to suit specific applications, for example where internal sitings and controls may be required. Our experienced design and support team is able to provide detailed advice on product selection and performance data, and our field engineer is available to recalibrate units on site if required.
